The Kirin Group has been conducting life science research based on fermentation to expand into the pharmaceutical and agro-biotechnology businesses. We seek to stay at the forefront of research in fermentation technology that makes use of microorganisms such as brewery yeast and lactic acid bacteria. With knowledge gained through molecular biological research, we have come to understand—down to the substance level—how microorganisms behave during the alcoholic fermentation process. We use this knowledge to work on technology to improve production processes and develop new products.
